KLIA and Langkawi airports among the best in the world

8th Sep 2022 KL International Airport (KLIA) and Langkawi International Airport (LGK), according to the most recent Airport Service Quality (ASQ) report for Q2 2022, are among the best airports in the world.

Airports Council International (ACI) conducted a worldwide study to gauge passenger satisfaction with terminal safety, facilities, services, and cleanliness. Both airports received a perfect score of 5 on the survey. KLIA shared this distinction with seven other airports serving over "40 million passengers per year" (mppa). LGK was the only airport to get a perfect score of 5 in the "2 to 5 million passengers per annum category". These achievements show that Malaysia Airports is still committed to making sure its services and operations meet global standards.

In July 2022, the Malaysia Airports Group said that there were a total of 7.8 million passenger movements. Of these, 4.8 million were at its network of local airports and 3 million were at Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Turkey.

Dato' Iskandar Mizal Mahmood, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports, said, "As we welcome more and more passengers at our airports, it is unquestionably more difficult to provide a consistently positive passenger experience, but we remain committed to doing so. The most recent ASQ results demonstrate this dedication, not just by Malaysia Airports but also by the whole airport community. According to the ASQ survey, the top three things people liked about KLIA were "smooth processes at the touchpoints, friendly help on the ground, and quick check-in counters."

The Group registered 3.1 million domestic and 1.6 million foreign movements in Malaysia over the previous month. The latter witnessed a 26% rise compared to the previous month. Domestic traffic has reached 66% of pre-COVID-19 levels, while overseas traffic has reached 18% of pre-COVID-19 levels.

The resumption of more foreign flights by Malaysia's airline partners last month demonstrates the continuation of the industry's revival. They included the Kuching (KCH)  - Singapore (SIN) route operated by Malaysia Airlines (MH), the Kota Kinabalu (BKI) - Bangkok-Don Mueng (DMK) route operated by AirAsia (AK), the Busan (PUS) - BKI route operated by Air Busan (BX), the Jakarta (CGK) - Kuala Lumpur (KUL) route operated by Citilink (QG), and the Medan-Kualan (BTK).
