MH17 Victims' Bodies Arrive in KL

​The 20 remains of the Malaysian victims have arrived in Kuala Lumpur last August 22, via a Malaysian Airlines flight MH2129.

The special flight, piloted by Captain Dato’ Missman Leham, left August 21 at exactly 3:23pm (local time) from Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.

The Malaysian Airlines management team has sought the assistance of both the Malaysian and Dutch governments to help repatriate the bodies of the victims back to Malaysia, so that their respective families can pay their last respects to their loved ones and give them proper funeral rites.

The airline management has also observed a company-wide mourning as a sign of respect to the victims. Flight crew also sported black ribbons on their uniform, while the Malaysian national emblem has been flown at half mast.

Each department also had their simultaneous 2 minutes of silence for the recital of Al-Fatihah at 10:55am, while a similar ceremony was also observed at KL International Airport's Bunga Raya Complex.

The airline management also granted its staff based in Kuala Lumpur a time-off between 10am and 2pm to allow them to pay their last respects to their friends and colleagues by forming a line along the road where the bodies were to pass, from the airport to the victims' respective final resting places.

Malaysian Airlines also organized a tahlil prayer and recital of Yaasin tomorrow last August 26, in memory of the passengers and crew who perished in the MH17 tragedy, while a special prayer will also be recited for the MH370 victims.

Both events were at the Masjid Tengku Kelana Jaya Petra in Kelana Jaya to allow the public to offer prayers and pay their last respects to the victims.
