Malaysia Endorses Start-up Airline Flymojo at LIMA Event

Flymojo is the newest airline company launched by the Malaysian government during the just- concluded 13th LIMA exposition.   Flymojo Sdn Bhd, owners of the fledgling airline intends to capture the ASEAN travel market , including those flying to other neighbouring regions.

According to Aziz Kaprawi, the country’s Deputy Minister of Tranportation, the introduction of Flymojo at the opening of the LIMA event was indeed timely.

He said that the airline will employ the modern, slim-bodied, medium-range CS100 jets, each with a total seating capacity of up to 125. He mentioned further that these jets will be crucial to the airline’s objective of providing exceptional flight service to and from Peninsula, Sabah, and Sarawak, including nearby areas.

The Senai International Airport situated in Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu International Airport in Sabah will respectively serve as the airline’s main and ancillary hub.

Airline officials informed that Flymojo will be headquartered in Malaysia’s Southern Corridor. Positioning the airline within the zone will further enable the country to bring to fruition the vision of turning Iskandar and Malaysia’s Southern Corridor into a high-tech logistics, industrial, and commercial hub.

Moreover, Sabah as well as Sarawak will benefit from the influx of more tourists as Flymojo employs Kota Kinabalu as a secondary hub.

More recently, the airline company has executed a Letter of Intent containing, among others, an offer to initially acquire 20 units of CS100 jets from Bombardier Inc. Bombardier is a multinational firm specializing in aerospace as well as transportation business.

Once a final purchase contract is signed by both parties, the airline shall have become Bombardier’s pioneering airline to employ the CS100 fleet in the area.

Bombardier President, Mike Arcamone mentioned that its CS100 jets are the perfect choice for a start-up like Flymojo. He also mentioned that start-ups do not have existing fleets of Airbuses so the challenge of transitioning to a new type of aircraft isn’t an issue.

The aerospace expert cited that airlines opting for the cutting-edge CS100 and CS300 aircrafts will aid in companies’ plans to widen market reach, increase capacity, and eventually drive the business forward.
