Malaysian national carrier Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) revealed on Tuesday that it had signed a deal with the German cost management solution company Airpas Aviation which will cut its direct operating costs.
Malaysia Airlines confirmed in a statement that it chose Airpas’ cost management solution to help it control and cut its DOCs (direct operating costs).
Chief executive officer at Malaysia Airlines Christoph Mueller said Airpas will support the airline on its way back to profitability by streamlining processes, cutting overspends and enabling a centralized control of its budget, debt and contracts.
Mueller also added:
Furthermore, MAB will use the Airpas solution to change internal processes from station management all the way to procurement and finance.
Airpas Aviation CEO Renhold Renger said:

The German-based company has more than 12 years if experience in providing cost management solutions and has already worked with airlines, specifically Emirates and Rayanair in helping them better control their finances.
Malaysia Airlines and Firefly Sign Codeshare Agreement
Airpas deal wasn’t the only one MAB signed recently, however, as MAB has also inked a codeshare agreement with Firefly. The partnership will start with three destinations on Firefly’s network from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Firefly revealed in a statement that the partnership will officially start on 22nd December and will allow passengers to book routes to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Penang through one of its platforms.
Firefly chief executive Ignatius Ong said:
We have no doubts that the offering of the ability to book flights to East Malaysia will be a boom to our loyal customers. With the launch of these initial routes, Firefly will gradually increase the number of codeshare routes with MAB in 2016.
