Starting late November (28th, to be exact), biggest Asian budget carrier AirAsia Bhd will resume operations between Johor Bahru and Kolkata, India. The airline announced it will fly five times per week on this route.
To celebrate the new route, AirAsia is now offering special all-in promo one way fares starting from RM99. These are available for booking from today until 3rd September and can be used for travel between 28th November, 2017 and 28th August, 2018.
In a statement, the airline’s Head of Commercial Spencer Lee said:
Senai International Airport has been a great partner to AirAsia, and we are pleased to introduce more international routes from the Johor Baharu hub as part of our commitment to provide better connectivity to our guests and further grow the Southern hub.
This will be AirAsia’s 15th route out of Johor Bahru. This includes nine domestic routes (Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Langkawi, Penang, Sibu, Kuching, Miri, Tawau and Kuala Terengganu) and five international, besides Kolkata (Bangkok, Ho Chi Ming City, Guangzhou, Jakarta and Surabaya).
AirAsia Wins The Edge Billion Ringgit Club Company of the Year Award
Meanwhile, AirAsia has won The Edge Billion Ringgit Club Company of the Year Award, which made the airline’s CEO Tony Fernandes ‘super proud’.
He wrote on his Facebook page today:
Super proud. The Edge, a newspaper I super respect, has just named AirAsia as Company of the Year.
The award was received by AirAsia co-founder and Executive Chairman Kamarudin Meranun from Ho Kay Tat, The Edge Media CEO and publisher.
The Edge handed a total of 81 company awards to 56 best companies and their executives in Malaysia. Executive chairman at Westports Holdings Bhd G Gnanalingam received the Value Creator award for 2017. Since he couldn’t attend the gala, his son Ruben Gnalaningam accepted the award in his stead.
Also, Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd won the special ‘public service’ award for its production of the movie Ola Bola and Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) won the award for being the first ever Bursa-listed Malaysian company to reach RM100 billion or over in market capitalization.
