AirAsia, AirAsia X: Arrive Early at Airports due to Hari Raya

In the latest statement, both AirAsia and AirAsia X have advised passengers to arrive at least 3 hours (for AirAsia flights) and 4 hours (for AirAsia X flights) earlier at the airport during the Hari Ray period to avoid congestions and clear travel formalities such as check-in.

For passengers with special needs, reduced mobility or group booking, the carriers recommend that they arrive even earlier since they can only check-in at the counter. Of course, AirAsia ground staff will be available to assist passengers with their traveling needs.

AirAsia also reminded passengers that they can self-check-in via web, mobile or kiosk services 14 days, up to an hour (for AirAsia) or 4 hours (for AirAsia X) before their plane departs to make the whole procedure faster.

Baggage check-ins will close one hour before departure for both AirAsia and AirAsia X flights, but again, due to congestions during the Hari Raya, it’s best to get this over with as soon as possible. AirAsia has also reminded passengers of the allowed cabin baggage, which is one piece, not bigger than 56cm x 36cm x 23cm (with wheels and handles) and one handbag or laptop bag up to 40cm x 30cm x 10cm. The total weight of these two pieces should not go over 7kg.

In addition, AirAsia advised passengers to pre-book baggage weight to save money by logging into “Manage My Booking” on its main website, mobile site or on their Android and iPhone devices, up to 4 hours before departure time.

Passengers can self-check-in at most airports in Malaysia, including: KLIA2, Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Johor Bahru, Kedah, Kota Bahru, Sibu, Tawau, Sandakan, Labuan, Miri and Kuala Terengganu international airports.

Finally, passengers can also pre-book their meals up to 24 hours before scheduled departure time, also using the “Manage My Booking”. AirAsia recommends doing this, as there might not be enough meals to go around for on-board purchases due to the greater demand during Hari Raya.

Congestions are expected at immigration checkpoints, baggage clearance and security scanning during Hari Raya.
