Malindo Air To Expand Regional Network

19th Jul 2014

Malindo Air is training its sight on expanding its capacity to regional destinations particularly China, India, and Thailand.

On the fourth quarter of this year, the existing destinations in India and Thailand will see additional capacity which will form part of the initial phase of the airline's international expansion program. The second wave of its regional route expansion program will not happen until 2015, with the launch of services to mainland China and other destinations in northern Asia.

Currently, Malindo Air focuses its regional operations in Indonesia, India, and Bangladesh since it launched its regional flights less than a year ago. It currently flies to Bangkok and Krabi in Thailand. For its domestic operations, Malindo Air increased its fleet of turboprops this year. Its planned regional routes will be supported by the delivery of two B737-900ER jets this year, its first fleet expansion since over a year ago. Acquisition of more jetliners similar to B737 type is already on the plan with possible delivery next year.

Malindo Air currently operates a fleet of 9 ATR 72-600 turboprops and 6 B737-900ER jetliners serving to 22 destinations including 11 regional routes.
