Malaysia Airlines Names New Head of Marketing and Executive Counsel

Malaysian airline company Malaysia Airlines announced on Tuesday it brought in two new names to help it get back on track. The first one is Charles D. McKee, who will take over the airlines marketing department as its new head beginning on 14th September, while Nik Azli will take the position of executive counsel starting on 1st November.

About Charles D. McKee (MAS New Head of Marketing)

McKee has 27 years of experience in marketing as well as managing top travel brands and MAS said it hopes his experience will enable them to offer a better experience to its customers, as well as move in front of the competition.

Before joining Malaysia Airlines, McKee worked at Delta Hotels and Resort, where he was in charge of repositioning. He also served roles at Virgin Atlantic Airways. Canadian Tourism Commission, Air Canada and other big companies.

McKee graduated from Harvard University in 1988. He lived and worked in United States, Canada, Hong Kong and United Kingdom and now ads Malaysia to that list.

About Nik Azli Abu Zahar (MAS New Executive Counsel)

Prior to joining MAS, Nik was the general counsel at SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd. He brings with him over 19 years of experience in the legal and management field.

The carrier hopes Nik will help it set up a streamlined approach to entering into contracts with its business partners, as well as managing and negotiating those contracts.

He was also the head of legal in Sime Darby, Energy & Utilities Division from 2010 to 2011 and before that legal assistant and partner at Zul Rafique and Partners from 2004 to 2010.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Laws from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in United Kingdom.
