AirAsia Signs Guy Sebastian as Brand Ambassador

21st Oct 2016

Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia has managed to sign Guy Sebastian, an Australian singer born in Malaysia, as its brand ambassador for Australia.

The introduction of Sebastian as AirAsia’s ambassador was made at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Australia, with AirAsia X Group CEO Kamarudin Meranun, AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail and AirAsia trade partners attending the VIP event.

The new AirAsia ambassador for Australia said:

I’m excited to be part of the AirAsia team as the official ambassador of the airline. As a Malaysian-born Australian, who travels a great deal for my music, there are many aspects of AirAsia that I admire. I love the story of how Tony Fernandes (who my Dad often gets mistaken for!) started the company and grew it to where it is today, but most of all I love the heart behind it.

Sebastian added:

Tony and the team do a great deal of charitable acts and the culture within the company is one where philanthropy is of a high priority. I look forward to this partnership and can’t wait to share some of the exciting things we have in store.

AirAsia X Group Chief Executive Officer Kamarudin Meranun said:

It’s great to be back in Australia promoting artists again. Sebastian is such a huge talent and we are thrilled to have him onboard. Music and entertainment are a natural fit for AirAsia and he joins other entertainers and celebrities to promote our award-winning service. Beyond that, Sebastian also embodies AirAsia’s values and ideals with his support of the community through charity work.

Sebastian was born in Malaysia, but his family moved to Australia when he was six years old. Today he lives in Sydney with his wife Jules and two children – Hudson and Archer.

The music sensation is currently one of the judges at the popular “X Factor Australia” show and is soon to release a new album. A little preview of that album in the form of the single “Candle” is already out.

He will help promote AirAsia’s brand in Australia, as well as help in creating some engaging content and showcase his favorite destinations in Asia.
