AirAsia Offers RM1 Base Fares Till 10 May

6th May 2015

A few days ago AirAsia has announced that it will have a flight sale for one way tickets to Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Langkawi and Penang. What really turned heads was that the offer is starting from a base fare of just RM1.

Travelers can book their tickets until 10 May via the carrier’s website, mobile site or using Android or iPhone app.

Senior executive in charge of commerce at AirAsia Spenser Lee said that AirAsia customers will be able to book their much faster, thanks to the Xpress booking function that is now incorporated into the website.

He said:

The new features will help them to book flights four times faster, select their options with greater ease and more user-friendly than it already is. We hope that this promotion will also let anyone experience the new features while booking their next holiday.

Naturally, the RM1 fare is only for the base cost of the ticket one would have to pay. All other fees will remain as they are currently. This means that all-inclusive fares for domestic flights will start at RM11 and for international destinations will begin at RM38.

"First-Come, First-Served", AirAsia Official Says

The promotion was first launched for BIG card members, so most of the popular routes and timings were quickly taken.

As some of those who were too late for the RM1 offer felt perhaps felt cheated by the carrier, AirAsia issued a statement to the press:

AirAsia would like to reiterate that the promotional fares are available based on fare tiers and is on a first-come first-served basis. The RM1 base fare campaign has seen encouraging response with seats being booked as soon as the campaign started on 4 May, 2015.

In another statement, AirAsia also revealed another offer to its guests for

Promotional base fares from RM1 one way to over 21 destinations across Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and China.

These tickets will be valid until 30 September, 2015.
