AirAsia Bhd to Launch Penang-Ho Chi Minh City Route

4th Nov 2015

Biggest Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia Bhd announced on Tuesday that it will soon launch a new route from Malaysia to China. The route, which will take AirAsia passengers from Penang to Ho Chi Minh City, will start on 16th December this year and will be a four-time weekly, the company explained.

One Way Fares from RM99

In a statement issued yesterday, AirAsia Head of Commercial Spencer Lee said customers can get all-in, one way fares for Penang-Ho Chi Minh City flights until 8th November, 2015. The promotional fares, Spencer said, can be used for the travel period between 25th January and 29th January next year.

Those interested can book a ticket for as low as RM99 by visiting AirAsia website (airasia.com), using their Android and iPhone mobile devices, through mobile site at mobile.airasia.com or via AirAsia’s mobile app.

In addition, AirAsia BIG members can also redeem their flights for the Penang to Ho Chi Minh City (PEN-SGN) route by visiting airasiabig.com.

We are Looking to Connect Malaysian Cities with Their Neighbors, Says Lee

AirAsia’s Head of Commercial said the airline is looking to bring Malaysian cities closer to their neighbors by connecting more cities in Asia.

Lee said:

Penang is one of our important hubs, and we recognised its great tourism potential. This new direct flight signifies our commitment in establishing enhanced connectivity for the people from both cities.

AirAsia also operates directly to Ho Chi Minh City from Kuala Lumpur, flying five times per day on that route, and it also offers three-time weekly service to Ho Chi Minh City from Johor Bahru.

This is the second route to China the carrier has announced in the past week or so. Last Tuesday (27th October), AirAsia announced a new direct route, which would take passengers from Kota Kinabalu to Wuhan. The route begins on 22nd January, 2016, while all-inclusive one way fares were available until 1st November for the 22nd-29th January travel period.
