Malaysia budget carrier AirAsia Bhd is the new title sponsor for the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) National Junior League.
In a launching ceremony for the new junior league AirAsia Executive Chairman Kamarudin Meranun presented a mock cheque of RM1 million to BAM President Norza Zakaria, announcing officially AirAsia’s one-year sponsorship of BAM. The whole event was held this Saturday (15th July) at the Hilton Petaling Jaya and was witnessed by the Prime Minister’s wife and BAM patron Paduka Rosmah Mansor.
Upon giving the mock RM1,000,000,000 cheque, Meranun said:
AirAsia has always believed in creating greater opportunities for grassroots participation in sports, and this new league will allow young Malaysians to gain valuable exposure and experience as we nurture the next generation of world badminton champion.
BAM President Zakaria commented:
The launching of AirAsia-BAM National Junior League will usher in a new era in BAM’s effort to increase schoolchildren participation in general and the beginning of BAM’s revamp exercise. The AirAsia-National Junior League model will definitely generate greater interest and participation among more than 5,000 schoolchildren from about 1000 schools throughout Malaysia.
AirAsia Unveils New Santan Menu
Meanwhile, AirAsia has unveiled a new Santan in-flight menu and will serve cuisine from all over Southeast Asia on its flights. The new menu was unveiled at a press conference in Bohol, in partnership with Amorita Resort.
The new in-flight menu will include dishes from Malaysia, Korea, Thailand, Singapore and the rest of SE Asia. Travelers will be able to enjoy Nasi lemak, Hainanese roast chicken, beef bulgogi from Korea and kids especially should love Chicken Lasagna.
